IMD Issues Grave Warning: Heavy Rainfall and Snowfall Expected in Several states including Jammu and Kashmir

New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a grave warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall and snowfall in several states, including Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand, on March 1 and 2.
In its daily weather bulletin, the IMD has highlighted the imminent threat of extreme weather events in the northern regions. Jammu and Kashmir, particularly Ladakh, are at high risk of experiencing heavy to very heavy rainfall and snowfall over the next two days. Similarly, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are expected to witness significant precipitation within the next 24 hours.

Punjab has also been placed on alert as the IMD has issued a warning for heavy rainfall. The weather bulletin forecasts widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds in Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh on March 1 and 2, with Punjab likely to bear the brunt of the heavy rainfall on March 2.
Furthermore, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and North Madhya Pradesh are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall from March 1 to March 3. The IMD has also cautioned about the possibility of strong surface winds sweeping across Northwest India during this period.
Additionally, hailstorms are anticipated in various regions. Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Punjab are likely to experience hailstorms on March 1 and 2, Rajasthan on March 1, and Haryana and Uttar Pradesh on March 2.
