Authorities Close Gates of Jama Masjid Srinagar on Shab Baraat, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq Under House Arrest : Anjuman Auqaf
The recent closure of the gates of Jama Masjid Srinagar on the auspicious occasion of Shab Baraat, accompanied by the house arrest of Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, has sparked strong condemnation from Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid. This move by the authorities has disrupted congregational prayers on Shab-e-Baraat at Jama Masjid and shab khawni.
Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid expressed deep dismay at the silence forced upon the central religious center of the valley during these significant days of Shaban preceding the holy month of Ramadan. Once vibrant with prayers, religious ceremonies, supplications, duas, majlis e waz, and tableeg, the Jama Masjid now stands deserted, depriving thousands of their religious rights and gatherings.
In a Statement issued to News Agency Press Trust of Kashmir that, the Anjuman emphasized the profound disappointment and heartbreak felt by the people due to the authorities’ handling of their central religious place and leader. Such actions represent a blatant violation of religious rights and unacceptable interference in religious affairs. Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid vehemently protests against these actions, calling for respect and preservation of religious freedoms.
