Terrorist Associate Apprehended in Kupwara, Arms and Ammunition Seized: Police
Security forces in Kupwara district of north Kashmir arrested a terrorist associate and confiscated a cache of arms and ammunition in the Lalpora area. The operation, conducted jointly by Kupwara Police, 28 RR, and CRPF 162Bn, underscores the relentless efforts of security forces in thwarting potential threats to peace and stability in the region.
According to reports from police officials, a joint checkpoint was established at Gundimacher Bridge, where vigilant personnel noticed a suspicious individual carrying a white-colored bag moving from Lalpora towards Gundmacher. Acting swiftly, the police and security forces tactfully apprehended the individual, identified as Rafeeq Ahmad Ganie, son of Gh Ahmad Ganie, a resident of Lalpora.
Upon inspection of the bag, authorities discovered a pistol, pistol magazine, 10 rounds of ammunition, two hand grenades, and a mobile phone. The swift action by the police and security forces prevented any untoward incident and led to the seizure of dangerous weapons intended for unlawful activities.
A case under FIR No. 03/2024 U/S 7/25 A Act, 13,18, 23, 39 ULA (P) has been registered at the Lalpora Police Station, and investigations are underway to uncover further details regarding the arrested individual’s affiliations and motives. This development serves as a stark reminder of the persistent threats posed by terrorism in the region and highlights the crucial role played by security forces in ensuring the safety and security of civilians.
