Police Raid in Kangan: Fake Currency and Vehicles Seized, 12 Arrested

 

 

In a swift operation on the evening of 8th February 2024, the Police Station Kangan received crucial information about suspicious activities unfolding at Kijpara, behind the Dumping Park.

 

Responding promptly to the intelligence, a specialized Police team was formed under the directive of SSP Ganderbal, *Shri Sandeep Gupta-IPS*, and supervised by SDPO Kangan, *Shri Muzaffar Jan-JKPS*. The operation was led by SHO Kangan, *Shri Turk Zahoor*. The team wasted no time and conducted a raid at the mentioned location, where they apprehended 12 individuals exhibiting suspicious behavior.

 

During the search of the suspects and their vehicles, which were allegedly used in the commission of the crime, the Police made significant seizures. They recovered 30 bundles of fake currency notes, each totaling Rs 50,000, amounting to a staggering Rs 1,500,000 (in “Children Bank” currency), along with a sum of Rs 56,600 in Indian currency. Additionally, five vehicles were seized on the spot, identified with registration numbers: JK15-4533 (Alto- K10), JK18B-2652 (Baleno), JK18D-3543 (Alto-K10), JK01AU-5420 (I-20), and PB01A-9585 (Etios).

 

The identities of the apprehended individuals were disclosed as follows:

– Arshid Ahmad Wani

– Mohd Zubair

– Zahoor Ahmad Salro

– Abaas Ahmad Sofi

– Bilal Ahmad Sofi

– Faroze Ahmad Thokar

– Raja Rameez

– Ishfaq Ahmad Wani

– Zubair Ahmad Bijran

– Khurshid Ahmad Mir

 

In response to this incident, Case FIR No. 08/2024 has been registered at PS Kangan, and investigations are currently underway.

 

The swift and decisive action taken by the Ganderbal Police has been met with applause from the general public. The J&K Police’s unwavering commitment to combatting social crimes remains steadfast, with assurances to continue efforts to eradicate such evils from society.
