Surge in Covid Cases Raises Concerns: 752 New Infections, 4 Deaths in 24 Hours

 

NEW DELHI, December 23: India is grappling with a significant surge in Covid-19 cases as 752 new infections were reported in a single day, marking the highest since May 21, 2023. According to the latest data from the Union Health Ministry, the active cases have surged to 3,420.

Tragically, the death toll has risen to 5,33,332, with four new fatalities recorded within a 24-hour period. Two of these deaths occurred in Kerala, while Rajasthan and Karnataka reported one each. The data, updated at 8 am, paints a concerning picture of the current situation.

The total Covid case tally in the country now stands at a staggering 4.50 crore (4,50,07,964). On a positive note, the number of individuals who have successfully recuperated from the disease has increased to 4,44,71,212. The national recovery rate remains high at 98.81%, reflecting the resilience of the healthcare system.

However, the fatality rate stands at 1.19%, underscoring the severity of the virus’s impact. The Health Ministry’s website highlights that a substantial 220.67 crore doses of the Covid vaccine have been administered in the country, showcasing ongoing efforts to mitigate the spread of the virus.
