DC visits Shrine of Hazrat BiBi Arifa

Bhuthoo to emerge as prime tourist destination: Dr. Owais

PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR BANDIPORA, AUGUST 31: To listen to the issues and grievances of the people, a Public Outreach programme (Block Diwas) was held today at Govt. High School Bhuthoo Bandipora as part of weekly Block Diwas program.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmed, Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, ACD Bandipora Ab Rashid Das, Assistant Commissioner Panchayat, Syed Altaf Hussain Mosavi, ExEn PMGSY, ExEn Jal Shakti Department, District Officers of various  departments and PRIs of concerned Panchayats and a large number of locals participated in the Block Diwas.

Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that today’s visit to Bhuthoo was aimed at strengthening grass-roots level democracy.

He said under Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), Rs 4.5 crore has been allotted for district Bandipora and urged PRIs to monitor JJM works through Pani Samiti Committees.

ACD Bandipora informed the chair that works worth Rs 01 Cr have been completed during 2021-22 and 08 works are taken up in PRI grants this year, out of which 05 have been completed. He informed that a health centre at the cost of 18 lac has been completed by RDD and a road at the cost of 20 lac has also been completed in the area.

People raised various issues including shortage of teaching staff at High School, non availability of Physical education teacher, unavailability of play ground, fencing of school, availability of animal husbandry centre and other issues of public importance.

The DC after patiently listening to the public passed on spot directions for the redressal of grievances raised.

Later, the DC took an extensive tour of  Bhutoo village to inspect various developmental works.

Dr. Owais also visited the shrine of Hazrat Bibi Arifa popularly known as “Ded Mouj” to take stock of facilities available for devotees. He directed the Rural Development Department for restoration of path inside the shrine and assured provisions of all essential facilities.

He said that keeping in view the natural beauty of Bhuthoo village and the shrine of Bibi Arifa, the village has potential to be developed as a tourist destination.

He said the District Administration is committed to bring various places of the district on the tourism map and Bhutoo is also one among them. He assured the PRIs and general public that concerted efforts shall be taken for harnessing the tourism potential of Bhuthoo to provide means of livelihood to the youth.
