Khanday expresses shock over civilian killing

Srinagar August 5 (PTK): Senior Congress Leader Mushtaq Ahmad Khanday today expressed deep shock and grief over the loss of civilian Bilal Ahmad Khan, who got killed during forces action at Gonowpora Shopian, leaving scores injured.

In a statement Khanday described the civilian killings as the main source behind disillusionment among the local population resulting in deterioration of the situation in the valley. The unabated loss of civilian and injuries to scores has vitiated the atmosphere and Congress Party believes that unless and until the civilians’ killings are not stopped the situation will continue to deteriorate which the State and Centre will not be able to control.

Appealing people to maintain peace, Khanday urged upon the Forces to exercise restraint while dealing with Law & Order problem, besides ensuring that no civilian is killed.

Khanday offered deepest condolences to bereaved family of Bilal Ahmad Khan and sympathized with them. (PTK)
