Block Health Mela held at Sub District Hospital Pampore

Press Trust of Kashmir | Srinagar : Chief Medical Officer Pulwama Dr. Hasina on Friday inaugurated the Block Health Mela at Pampore Sub-District Hospital, which was attended by District Officers and Health Department officials. ADC Awantipora Zaffar Hussain Shawl, Block Medical Officer Pampore Dr. Yousuf Al Majeed and Dr. Muhammad Ashraf were also present on the occasion. The health Melas are being organized under the auspices of the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, which has adopted a strategy of organizing health Melas to provide free health care services in addition to health education and early diagnosis.

On the occasion, Dr. Yousuf Al-Majeed, Block Medical Officer, Pampore, said that it was necessary to organize such programs to engage the general public and make them aware of the beneficial schemes of the health department. “It is very important to have precautionary measures at home because we do not eat properly and do not go for exercise properly, which has led to an increase in NCDs,” he said.

“Awareness among the people is very important and through these camps, people are made aware of the facilities and hidden diseases of which they are unaware,” he said. He said that screening helps in early detection of various diseases. The people were examined by doctors and specialists. Teams of doctors, pharmacists, field staff and paramedics provided free consultations to the people at the fair. Awareness about TI, cancer screening and other health related schemes was provided. These programs are being conducted in all the hospitals of DHSK under the Amrit Mahasato of Independence to convey the message to the general public about the various health programs of the government.:-PTK.
