Resolve decades long, land donors/CPWs issue:- JKECC to government.

 

Says locking schools takes toll on education of elementary Students.

 

 

Press Trust of Kashmir | Srinagar:- J&K employees coordination committee has urged government to resolve all the pending issues of land donors/ contingent paid workers as it takes heavy toll on the education of students

 

In a statement issued to PTK President Jammu and Kashmir employees Coordination Committee and Chairman JKTA Mr Shah Fayaz along with other members said that this is very unfortunate that the long pending demand of Land Donars/CPWs of education department have been experiencing the brunt of queasy policies of the government.

 

” Since the land donors donated their lands to education department for construction of schools decades ago without any compensation and simultaneously government had promised them to provide the job policies and other benefits to compensate for their sacrifices but till date they have not witnessed any policy regarding the very issue.” They said.

 

“Since we are witnessing that several schools have been locked by the land donors in various districts of valley and students are forced to study in open skies in these harsh days.” They added.

 

“Authorities from the Zonal level to Chief Education Officer level have completely failed to redress this chronic issue and consequently they have not been able to forward the cases of these poor land donors to higher authorities of the department.” They added further.

 

With the result the families of these Contingent paid workers are at the verge of starvation as they are not been paid for their assignments Sweeper cum Chowkidar, they said.

 

 

This working class has been very helpful in sanitizing the school premisis after the closure for almost three years, also they work as the Chowkodars and safeguard the schools, they added.

 

Shah Fayaz urged administration to bring this lot under minimum wages act and frame a clear cut job policy for Land donors so that the education sector which has been victim of Covid-19 earlier can be saved from further devastation as a result of locking of schools by Land Donors.

 

Shah Urged LG Administration, worthy Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary School Education Department, Financial Commissioner, DSEJ, and DSEK to intervene in this chronic issue and safeguard the future of students.:-PTK.
