Gunfight rages in Kulgam village

Kulgam, 17 Nov (PTK) : An encounter breaks out between militants and security forces in Pombay area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam on Wednesday .

Official sources told Press Trust Of Kashmir (PTK) that a joint team of army and police jointly launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Pombay village in kulgam following credible inputs of militants movement in the area.

As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.

A senior police officer also confirmed the exchange of fire between the joint team of security forces and the militants.

Meanwhile Kashmir zone police also informed through a tweet that Encounter has started at Pombay area of Kulgam. Police and security forces are on the job. Further details shall follow. @JmuKmrPolice. (PTK).
