Water scarcity triggers Protest in Ussan pattan
Baramulla , 29 Oct (PTK) : The residents of Ussan pattan area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on friday morning staged a protest against the Jalshakti department and blocked the Goushbugh-Pattan road to press their demands.
Reports reaching press trust of Kashmir (PTK) that locals of Ussan pattan including women assembled at main chowk Ussan and blocked the Goushbugh-Pattan road, as a result several vehicle struck in the jam for hours.
The protesters said that the Jalshakti department has failed to solve the drinking water problem of the area from years,we the residents are reeling under acute water shortage for last month and today we came out on roads .
Sources told that the Protestors were chanting slogans against Jalshakti department and said that we brought the matter into the notice of concerned authorities many times but nothing has been done so far.
Meanwhile a police team reached to the spot and assured the protesters that their problem will be taken up with concerned authorities,with that the protesters called off the protest and the traffic movement which was halted by the protesters was restored, – (PTK)
