Covid-19 Lockdown violations:  2105 violators fined, 24 persons arrested & 06 FIRs registered, Police seeks public cooperation to mitigate spread of virus

PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR | SRINAGAR : Continuing its efforts to curb the outbreak of 2nd wave of Coronavirus, J&K Police have enhanced its efforts to sensitise the masses about controlling the highly contagious Coronavirus. During the last 24hrs, Police have arrested 24 persons, lodged 06 FIRs and also realized fine to the tune of ₹2,40,470/- from 2105 people throughout the Kashmir valley for violating the various guidelines/rules/SOPs regarding Covid-19.

The special drive against the violators of Covid-19 guidelines/rules continued throughout all the districts of Kashmir Valley to ensure that people adhere to SOPs/guidelines envisaged by government to curb COVID-19 pandemic.

Community members are once again requested to cooperate with the Police in containing the spread of Coronavirus by following the SOPs/ guidelines/protocols for their own safety and for the safety of others. The special drive shall continue throughout the districts of Kashmir Valley to strengthen the safety measures.(PTK)

PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR | Handwara:Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested two notorious drug peddlers in Handwara and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

A police party from Police Station Vilgam at a checkpoint intercepted a vehicle (Estilo) bearing registration number HP26A377 with two persons on board. They have been identified as Mohd Gulzar Mir son of Gh Mohi ud Din Mir  and Shoib Ahmad Bhat son of Mohd Gulzar Bhat both residents of Amargad Tarathpora. During search, officers were able to recover 80 grams of Charas from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR numbers 49/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Vilgam and investigation has been initiated.

It is pertinent to mention here that the accused Gulzar Ahmad Mir is a notorious drug peddler and has major role in involving people towards drug menace especially youth.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
