Govt, Farmers to meet on Jan 15 in 9th round
AAQIB BHAT
New Delhi Jan 08 (PTK):After failing to reach on any conclusion, the next round of talks between the Central Government and farmer leaders to be held on 15th January.
The eighth round of talks between farmer unions and the central government on Friday appears to have once again turned inconclusive after both parties failed to agree on a resolution to end the deadlock over the three new agriculture legislations.
The fresh round of dialogue between the Centre and the farmer unions reportedly failed to arrive at a middle ground once again after the central government refused to withdraw the three farm laws. The Centre, represented by Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Railways and Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and Minister of State for Commerce Som Parkash, stood its ground on the three legislations, while the farmers demanded complete rollback.
The stalemate between the farmers and the Central government over the controversial farm laws is unlikely to end soon as the eighth round of talks ended today without a conclusion. The next round of talks will be held on January 15. (PTK)
