Sopore Police arrests two drug peddlers; contraband substance recovered

Srinagar, July 21 (PTK) : Continuing its drive against drug dealings in Sopore, Police have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substance from their possession.

Officers at a checkpoint established near Government School Panzla intercepted two persons riding on a motorcycle without registration number. They have been identified as Ghulam Mohiudin Lone resident of Balhama Panzla and Mohammad Lateef Tantry resident of Darshanpora Handwara. During checking, officers were able to recover 240 grams of Charas from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Panzla where they remain in custody. The motorcycle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, case FIR No. 77/2020 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Panzla and further investigation has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace as reiterated in our community.
