Congress demands monthly packages for labours, farmers

 

SRINAGAR  MAY (PTK)Senior congress leader and Rajya Sabha opposition leader, Gh Nabi Azad on Thursday demanded economic infusion to prop up the economy from the centre government and said that Congress party now wants the government to pay a monthly unemployment allowance of Rs. 7,500 for the next six months to the unorganised sector.

He has sought the cash handout for the entire unorganised labour force, including farm labourers, hawkers, small shopkeepers and others.

“The country’s 90 per cent working population is in the informal sector. The International Labour Organisation reported this month that 40 crore people will go into deeper poverty because of the coronavirus pandemic,” he said.

Congress party has been continuously asking government to come for the rescue of poor people but so far nothing has been done, adding that our once again demand that government must provide Rs 10,000 to all labours and farmers for ist month followed by 7,500 for next 5 months.

He also demanded a cash instead of loan to help all bussinesmen whose bussines got crippled due to lock down besides a work of 200 days instead of 100 days all labours registered with MNREGA.
