GANDERBAL MAY (PTK)Residents of Shutkari village in Sonamarg area of Ganderbal district of Central kashmir are without power supply and authorities are in slumber.

Locals said that residents of Gund Kalan village are migrating to Sonamarg area every year on Ist May and same was followed this year however our power supply is out of station this year.

We have here underground power connection but the underground line is giving electric shocks to locals due to which locals have kept it off, they said.

In absence of electricity, we are forced to lit fire and by it’s light we are able to have iftari and Sehari, said Muzafar Ahmad a local resident

We brought this issue in notice of concerned authorities so many times but to no avail.

Our children aren’t able to study in absence of light, said another local abdul Ahad by adding that in absence of light we remain cut off and aware with the happenings in the area.

Locals said that we have been provided with 63kv transformer and 25 KV transformer under a scheme but both are nonfunctional.

However, another transformer through which we were getting supply is also extant non functional, they said, adding that it is month of Ramadan going on we are living in dark age.

We appeal concerned authorities to provide us with transformer on temporary basis till underground mechanism of electricity is repaired.

An official told PTK that we will solve the issue as soon as possible and will provide all possible convenience.(PTK)
