ST’s to get reservation in Panchayats, UT assembly: BJP
Srinagar, Mar 10 (PTK): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday said that Central government would accord reservation to Schedule Tribes (STs) including Gujjar Bakarwals and Paharis in Panchayat Bodies and proposed assembly of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.
As per Press Trust of Kashmir (PTK), talking to reporters on the sidelines of a workers meeting at a local hotel in Srinagar, the BJP General Secretary (Organization) Ashok Koul said that the Gujjars and Bakarwals when asked about their native villages would always say that the area beyond the last electric pole of any remote area is the area of Gujjars and Bakarwals.
He said that BJP intends to reach to the deprived people of schedule tribe areas and central government would ensure reservation for gujjars and bakarwals and Paharis in the Panchayat bodies and new assembly of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.
Former minister, Abdul Gani Kohli during his speech said that our workers should become medium for centre and J&K sponsored schemes. He also said that ST people are always at back so it is our moral duty to bring them on first line by facilitating them about these schemes.
While on the occasion Media Incharge Kashmir Manzoor Bhat appealed to centre government special drives should be organised for recruitment of youths for the Gujjar and Bakarwal communities in the army, the central armed police forces and the local police.
District President Srinagar Arif Raja, programme coordinator Kashmir Ashok Bhat, south Kashmir Incharge Veer Saraf and others were present on the occasion. (PTK)
