Erratic power supply irk consumers as Alesteng transmission line fails to end power woes
Srinagar, Mar 9 (PTK): The erratic power supply across Kashmir continues to haunt the people in the Valley with authorities claiming to have almost finalized the things to issue new power curtailment schedule.
As per Press Trust of Kashmir, (PTK), the government had stated that the people across the Valley will heave a sigh of relief once the much-awaited Alesteng transmission line is commissioned.
The commissioning, however, missed multiple deadlines and the government further stated that the line has been put in testing and will be soon.
Nearly a month elapsed when this line was set to be commissioned as per the deadline set by the government, but the people across the Kashmir especially in villages here have been facing immense hardships, stating that the concerned power development department is not adhering to the schedule, thus leaving them to suffer.
“The winter period is almost over, but the PDD has failed to issue another power schedule to end the power woes across Kashmir,” one of the consumers said, adding that the PDD officials are ignoring the plights of the local public.
Meanwhile, a top official in the PDD said that the new power schedule for the consumers will be issued soon with less curtailment. “We are on it and it will be announced soon,” he said.
Pertinently, the Jammu and Kashmir administration had said that the power woes in the Valley will come to end by the end of January this year as the date was set as deadline for the commissioning of the Alestemg transmission line.
The deadline was later changed with officials saying that it will now be commissioned by February 10, 2020. (PTK)
