Govt orders probe in expired medicines in Health Centre Bandipora

Bandipora, March 05: The Government on thursday orders probe in the dumping of expired medicines at health centre Gamroo Bandipora.

Block Medical Officer Bandipora constituted a 3-member committee headed by Dr Fayaz  Ahmad Dental Surgeon, ZMO Chuntimulla to inquire in to the matter.
In an order issued on wednesday, Block Medical Officer Bandipora Dr Mohammad Aasif constituted the inquiry committee with Iqbal Hameed Supervisor Pharmacist and Gh Qadir Junior Pharmacist as its members.

The committee has been asked to thoroughly inquire into the matter and submit the report to the Block Medical Office within Three (03) days.

On 2nd March, huge quantity of expired drugs of about 07 categories were found in the Sub Centre Gamroo village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

A team of Drug Control Department raided the Sub Centre in Gamroo  area of Bandipora district and recovered a huge quantity of expired medicines.

The Drug Inspector along with a team of officials recovered the expired medicines besides registering a case in the matter.

According to officials, Co-trimoxazole Bottles, D5 Gulcose bottles, Mefenamic Acid Tablets, Theophylene  Tablets, 5D Gulcose bottles which had expiry dates as 2019 and January 2020 were found and have been recovered at the centre.

Some important medicines for pregnent ladies which are costlier in markets were also recovered at the Sub Centre.

“There were 07 different categories of medicines which were seized.

Earlier, medicines of worth lakhs belonging to government supply were recovered from a local medical shop in Bandipora last year. In another incident last year Bandipora Traders exposed drug scam in Bandipora and Recovered huge Quantity of expired drugs dumped in ANMT School Bandipora.
The locals expressed shock over the issue, saying that the people are being deprived of the medicines while as the officials fail to distribute the medicines on time.(PTK)
