Separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani admitted in hospital due to illness

SRINAGAR, APR 30 (PTK): Senior separatist leader Syed Ali Geelani was admitted to hospital on Tuesday following acute intestinal infection, family sources said.

Nayeem Geelani, son of the octogenarian Syed Ali Geelani, said that his father was admitted to the super specialty Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Srinagar city following a complaint of severe abdominal pain.

“Doctors have put him on antibiotics for the intestinal infection. He will remain in the hospital till the infection is taken care of,” Nayeem Geelani said.

For most of the time during the last four years, authorities have kept Geelani under house arrest in his uptown Hyderpora residence in Srinagar to prevent his participation in separatist called protests.

Meanwhile In a statement issued here All Parties Hurriyat Conference said that Geelani was yesterday seen by doctors of gastroenterology department at super specialty hospital Shareen Bagh Srinagar and was diagnosed to be having large intestinal infection for which he needs admission in hospital.

At SKIMS concerned doctors attended the ailing leader and have put him on treatment and advised some investigations. He is physically weak and frail but stable.

It is to worth mention here that a senior resistance leader besides suffering from multiple ailments is living on half kidney as his left kidney and half of right kidney has been removed while he was under detention at Ranchi jail Jharkhand in 2002. (PTK)
