Cultural Unit DIPR organises cultural programmes on Gandhi Jayanti, Int’l Day of Older Persons

 Jammu, October 02, (PTK): The Cultural Unit of the Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) Jammu organised a series of cultural programmes at different institutions in Jammu to mark Gandhi Jayanti and the International Day of Older Persons.A cultural programme was organised on September 30, 2026 at Ved Mandir, Ambphalla, Jammu. Artists of the Cultural Unit, along with casual artists Vanshika Dogra and Parveen Kumar, presented patriotic and folk songs, enthralling the audience with their performances.Students of Ved Mandir Ambphalla also showcased their talent by presenting songs in different languages, reflecting the rich cultural and linguistic diversity of the region.President Ved Mandir, Puran Chand Sharma and Cultural Officer Jammu, Rajinder Kumar Digra, along with staff members, witnessed the programme. The President appreciated the efforts of the Cultural Unit DIPR Jammu for organising the programme and promoting cultural activities.On October 1, 2026, the International Day of Older Persons and Gandhi Jayanti were commemorated at the Home for the Aged and Infirm, Ambphalla. Artists of the Cultural Unit presented a series of patriotic and devotional songs, creating an atmosphere of respect, devotion and national spirit among the residents.DIG Shailender Singh was the Chief Guest, while Cultural Officer Jammu Rajinder Kumar Digra was the Guest of Honour.The programme was attended by Dr. Dinesh Gupta, Secretary, Old Age Home; Er. Vijay Gupta, Joint Secretary; S. Rattandeep Singh, Member Managing Committee; S. Rajinder Singh, Member Managing Committee; Dr. B.B. Sharma, Ex-CMO; and Medical Officer, besides staff and residents of the Home.In his address, the chief cuest appreciated the Cultural Unit for organising the programme and using cultural performances as a means of spreading joy, respect and social awareness among senior citizens. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. Dinesh Gupta, Secretary, Old Age Home.Today, the Cultural Unit, in collaboration with Gandhi Global Family, organised another cultural programme at Lawrence Public School Sidhra, as part of the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations. Artists of the Cultural Unit presented patriotic songs and rendered “Vaishnav Jan To”, one of Mahatma Gandhi’s favourite bhajans, paying a musical tribute to Mahatma Gandhi.The series of programmes highlighted the role of culture and music in promoting patriotism, social harmony, respect for senior citizens and awareness of India’s rich cultural heritage. The performances by the Cultural Unit artists also provided a platform for students and local artists to showcase their talent and strengthened the department’s efforts towards taking cultural programmes to educational institutions and the community.

The programmes were organized under the directions of Joint Director Information Jammu Deepak Dubey and under the supervision of Cultural Officer Rajinder Kumar Digra(PTK)
