DC Srinagar inspects development works at Anchaar Soura, reviews restoration of historic spring
SRINAGAR, SEPTEMBER 30 (PTK): Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo on Wednesday conducted an on-site inspection of ongoing development works at Anchaar Jenab Sahib Soura and reviewed the progress of restoration and preservation works being undertaken at the historic spring.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner took stock of various components of the project aimed at improving the site while preserving its heritage and aesthetic character. The project has been allotted a cost of ₹1.20 crore.
Officials briefed the DC that the works include desilting of the pool area, dry boulder stone pitching of the floor bed, construction of a peripheral block with Devri stone tile cladding and installation of ornamental grills around the pool.
The project also includes reconstruction and realignment of the deck and steps using Devri stone, construction of ornamental gates and installation of ornamental lamp posts around the pool area for illumination.
Labroo directed the executing agencies to ensure timely completion of the works while maintaining prescribed quality standards and preserving the original heritage character of the site.
He stressed the need for close coordination among all concerned departments to ensure that the restoration and development works are carried out systematically, sustainably and in an aesthetically appropriate manner.
The Deputy Commissioner also interacted with members of the Management Committee of Jenab Sahib Soura and local residents and listened to their developmental concerns and demands.
Responding to requests from local residents and traders, the DC directed the concerned authorities to facilitate installation of an ATM at Anchaar Jenab Sahib Soura to provide greater convenience to residents, devotees and traders.
He also reviewed various ongoing road and water improvement projects in the area and directed the executing agencies to complete the remaining works within the prescribed timelines.
The DC was accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Mir Imtiyaz Ul Aziz, IAS Probationer Sai Kiran, Chief Planning Officer Fayaz Ahmad Dar, Executive Engineer R&B Suhail Rashid, Executive Engineers of KPDCL Nissar Ahmad and Abrar Hussain, Tehsildar Eidgah Mohammad Iqbal Zargar, Administrator Jenab Sahib Soura and other concerned officers.(PTK)
