NMBA Campaign Continues Across Pulwama with Awareness, Counselling and Sports Activities
District-wide Programmes Promote Drug-Free Society, Youth Engagement and Community Participation
Pulwama, June 11 (PTK): As part of the ongoing 100-day Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan (NMBA), a series of awareness, counselling and youth engagement programmes were conducted across Pulwama district to strengthen the fight against substance abuse and promote a drug-free society.
Awareness programmes were organized at Lurgam Aripal, Shar Pampore, Hakripora Newa, Aglar Achegoza, Goripora Awantipora, Banderpora Kakapora, Buchoo Dadsara, Arihal Litter, Thamuna and Gulshanabad Shadimarg, where participants were sensitized about the harmful effects of drug abuse and the importance of collective efforts in preventing substance addiction.
Various activities, including awareness sessions, counselling programmes, pledge ceremonies, signature campaigns and community outreach initiatives, were conducted to reinforce the message of a healthy and drug-free society.
Meanwhile, members of various Self Help Groups (SHGs) organized awareness and counselling sessions at Panner Tral, highlighting the crucial role of families and communities in preventing drug abuse and encouraging healthy lifestyles among youth.
The Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS), Pulwama, continued its sports-based awareness initiatives under the campaign. District-level competitions in Hockey for boys and Table Tennis, Chess and Badminton for girls are currently underway at Hockey Turf Pulwama and Indoor Stadium Rajpora.
Officials said the sporting events are aimed at engaging youth in constructive and positive activities while promoting sports and physical fitness as effective tools to keep young people away from substance abuse.
As part of the awareness campaign, several educational institutions also organized poster-making competitions, painting contests and film screenings to educate students about the dangers of drug abuse and encourage informed and healthy life choices.
In addition, Zone Tral hosted a Mega Athletic Meet for Under-14 Girls at Sports Stadium Bajwani Tral under the NMBA campaign, witnessing enthusiastic participation from young athletes.
Recreational and awareness activities were also conducted at Government Middle School Bala Tral, where students were encouraged to adopt healthy lifestyles and actively contribute towards building a drug-free society.
The district administration reiterated its commitment to intensifying awareness, counselling, sports and community-based initiatives under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan to safeguard youth and promote a healthier future for society.(PTK)
