Sakeena Itoo Reviews Education, Health Sector Scenario in Budgam Constituency

Srinagar, May 22 (PTK): Sakeena Itoo on Thursday chaired an extensive review meeting at the Civil Secretariat to assess the education and healthcare sector scenario in Budgam constituency and directed officials to accelerate developmental works and improve public service delivery.

The meeting was attended by Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi, senior officers of the School Education, Higher Education, Social Welfare and Health departments, including Director School Education Kashmir, Director Health Services Kashmir, Director Colleges, Chief Medical Officers of Srinagar and Budgam, Chief Education Officer Budgam and other concerned officials.

During the meeting, the Minister reviewed progress achieved under various schemes and assessed the status of infrastructure development projects being executed across the constituency. She directed officers to maintain close coordination and ensure timely completion of all projects without compromising quality standards.

Reviewing the status of Government Degree College Soibugh, Sakeena Itoo stressed the need for expediting the ongoing works so that the project is completed and dedicated for public use at the earliest.

The Minister also directed officers to prioritise issues raised by the public representative and remove bottlenecks hindering the functioning of the satellite campus of Maulana Azad National Urdu University at its permanent campus.

While reviewing the healthcare sector, the Minister sought detailed updates regarding the functioning of health institutions, availability of staff, medicines, diagnostic facilities and patient care services in the constituency. She instructed officials to address gaps on priority and ensure that hospitals and health centres remain fully equipped to meet public healthcare needs.

She directed the Health Department to rationalise staff deployment in hospitals located in cities and towns to address shortages in rural and peripheral health institutions.

The Minister also instructed the department to ensure that diagnostic facilities including MRI, CT Scan and USG remain functional round-the-clock in hospitals and Government Medical Colleges wherever available. She sought a report regarding utilisation of these facilities beyond routine working hours during the last one month.

Emphasising the government’s commitment towards strengthening education and healthcare sectors, the Minister said sustained efforts are being made to improve facilities at the grassroots level and ensure better access to quality services in both urban and rural areas.

Reviewing the education sector, Sakeena Itoo assessed the status of school infrastructure projects, availability of teaching staff, classroom facilities and implementation of educational initiatives. She directed officers to focus on improving academic standards and creating better learning environments for students.

She also stressed speedy completion of ongoing school building and upgradation works, stating that modern educational infrastructure is essential for ensuring quality education and equitable opportunities for students across the constituency.

The Minister further highlighted the importance of regular monitoring of developmental works and called for transparency and accountability in implementation of projects to ensure timely public benefit.(PTK)
