DC Ganderbal Reviews Preparations for SANJY-2026 at Baltal Base Camp
Ganderbal, May 15 (PTK): Deputy Commissioner Jatin Kishore on Thursday visited the Baltal Base Camp to review preparations and arrangements being put in place for the smooth conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026.
During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner took a detailed appraisal of the site plan from Y-Junction to the Domail access gate and reviewed the progress of various ongoing works and facilities being developed for pilgrims.
The DC inspected the maintenance of parking areas, improvement of pony tracks at Baltal and Domail, barricading at pony areas for smooth movement and other allied facilities at the Baltal Base Camp.
He directed Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited to ensure adequate lighting arrangements at key locations, particularly the Pony Stand which witnesses heavy footfall during the yatra period.
During the inspection, the DC instructed the Irrigation and Flood Control Department to expedite drainage and crate protection works in the area.
Telecom agencies were directed to ensure seamless network connectivity across the yatra route and base camp areas, while the Labour Department was asked to organise registration camps at locations including Sonamarg for facilitation of workers and service providers associated with the pilgrimage.
The Traffic Department was instructed to formulate an efficient traffic management plan, while Jammu and Kashmir Road Transport Corporation was directed to ensure proper transportation facilities and establish sufficient ticket booking counters for pilgrims.
The DC also directed the Border Roads Organisation to ensure timely snow clearance and maintenance of the yatra track and maintain close coordination with other departments for smooth execution of works.
Jatin Kishore issued on-the-spot instructions to all concerned departments and executing agencies to accelerate the pace of work and ensure completion within stipulated timelines.
Later, the DC visited the Pony Stand and directed officers to ensure adequate amenities and proper facilities for smooth management and convenience of pilgrims.
Senior Superintendent of Police Sudhanshu Dhama, Additional Deputy Commissioner, CEO Sonamarg Development Authority, SDM and officers from various departments, along with representatives of BRO, SASB and telecom agencies accompanied the Deputy Commissioner during the visit.(PTK)
