J&K Police Seizes Five Vehicles in Crackdown on Illegal Mining in Anantnag

Anantnag, May 15 (PTK): Continuing its sustained drive against illegal mining activities, Jammu and Kashmir Police in Anantnag on Thursday seized five vehicles involved in unlawful extraction and transportation of minerals in separate actions across the district.

Officials said a police party from Police Station Srigufwara intercepted and seized four tractors during naka checking at Srigufwara after they were found transporting illegally extracted boulders.

In this connection, FIR No. 49/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Srigufwara and further investigation has been initiated.

In another action, Police Station Utrasoo intercepted a tractor bearing registration number JK13E-4993 at Bosan Crossing which was allegedly carrying illegally extracted minerals.

Police said the vehicle was being driven by Gowhar Ahmad Shergojri of Krad and legal cognizance has been taken in the matter.

Police reiterated their commitment towards curbing illegal mining activities and warned that strict legal action would continue against individuals involved in unlawful exploitation of natural resources.(PTK)
