DC Srinagar, SMC Commissioner Review Preparations for Census-2027 Self-Enumeration and House Listing Operations
Srinagar, May 15 (PTK): Deputy Commissioner Srinagar and Principal Census Officer (Rural) Akshay Labroo along with Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation and Principal Census Officer (Urban) Faz Lul Haseeb on Thursday chaired a joint meeting to review preparations for Self-Enumeration and House Listing Operations under Phase-I of Census-2027 in the district.
The meeting was held at the Banquet Hall Conference Complex Srinagar and attended by district and sectoral officers from various line departments.
During the meeting, the officers reviewed modalities for self-enumeration, progress of House Listing Operations (HLO) and updation of data on the Census Management and Monitoring System (CMMS).
Speaking on the occasion, Akshay Labroo emphasized the importance of maintaining accuracy, transparency and coordination during the Census exercise, terming it a vital national activity that forms the basis for policy planning and governance.
He directed all departments to ensure meticulous conduct of House Listing Operations so that no household remains uncovered during the enumeration process.
The Deputy Commissioner instructed officers to strengthen inter-departmental coordination, provide logistical and technical support to field staff and ensure timely updation of data on the CMMS portal to avoid discrepancies and delays.
Highlighting the importance of public participation, he also stressed intensifying awareness campaigns at the grassroots level so that citizens are well informed about the self-enumeration process and its significance.
The SMC Commissioner directed all Charge Officers and field teams within municipal limits to ensure proper verification and timely completion of House Listing Operations across all municipal wards of Srinagar city. He underscored the importance of maintaining data integrity and adhering strictly to Census guidelines and timelines.
Officials informed the meeting that necessary training has already been imparted to field teams engaged in the Census exercise and that regular monitoring is being carried out to ensure transparency and accuracy in data collection and CMMS updation.
During the meeting, District Statistics and Evaluation Officer Shah Ismail Bangroo gave a detailed presentation and informed that the self-enumeration phase would be conducted from May 17 to May 31, 2026 through the online Census portal.
He further informed that Census teams would conduct household visits from June 1 to June 30, 2026 for scrutiny, verification and house listing operations across the district.
The meeting was attended by senior officers from various departments, including Additional Deputy Commissioners, Joint Commissioners of SMC, Superintendent of Police, engineers from R&B, Hydraulics and KPDCL, district officers and other concerned officials.(PTK)
