Satish Sharma Visits Kheer Bhawani, Mir Baba Hyder Shrines; Reviews Arrangements, Assures Better Facilities

Srinagar, May 10 (PTK): Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Transport, Youth Services & Sports, Information Technology and Science & Technology, Satish Sharma on Saturday visited the revered Kheer Bhawani Temple at Tulmulla and paid obeisance at the shrine.

During the visit, the Minister reviewed preparations for the forthcoming annual Kheer Bhawani Mela and interacted with officers of various departments regarding arrangements being put in place for the pilgrimage.

He directed the concerned departments to ensure advance arrangements for sanitation, uninterrupted power and water supply, healthcare, security coordination, cleanliness and transportation facilities for devotees expected to participate in large numbers during the mela.

Emphasising hassle-free transport facilities for pilgrims, Satish Sharma instructed the Transport Department to ensure smooth bus connectivity to the shrine from different locations, especially during the festival period.

The Minister stated that religious and cultural events are an integral part of the rich heritage of Jammu and Kashmir and reiterated the government’s commitment towards facilitating devotees and preserving the spiritual significance of such revered places.

Later, he visited the revered Mir Baba Hyder Shrine where he reviewed infrastructure and civic amenities available for devotees.

The Minister directed officials to undertake solarisation of the shrine complex as part of the government’s initiative for sustainable and eco-friendly infrastructure development at important religious places. He also instructed authorities to improve lighting, sanitation and other public convenience facilities at the shrine.

During the visit, Satish Sharma met several deputations representing different areas and communities who projected various public welfare and developmental issues before him.

Giving a patient hearing to the concerns raised, the Minister assured the delegations that their genuine issues would be examined sympathetically and addressed on priority.

He also interacted with a deputation of Kabaddi players and young sportspersons who raised issues related to sports infrastructure and training facilities.

The Minister appreciated the enthusiasm of the youth towards sports and reiterated the government’s commitment to strengthening sports infrastructure and creating better opportunities for youth engagement across Jammu and Kashmir.(PTK)
