LG Urges J&K Police to Prepare Roadmap for Future-Ready Policing
Srinagar, May 10 (PTK): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Sunday urged the Jammu and Kashmir Police to prepare a comprehensive roadmap to make the force future ready in view of emerging technological and security challenges.
The Lieutenant Governor made these remarks while handing over appointment letters to newly recruited constables during a landmark ceremony held at the Armed Police Complex, Zewan in Srinagar. Around 4,000 recruits were selected through a transparent and merit-based recruitment process conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board.
Congratulating the recruits, Manoj Sinha urged them to discharge their duties with integrity, impartiality and dedication towards national service.
“Joining the Jammu Kashmir Police is not merely a career choice but the acceptance of a legacy written in blood. I am confident that you will rise to the occasion and uphold the honour of this glorious force,” he said.
Paying tribute to the sacrifices of police personnel, the Lieutenant Governor said the peace and progress witnessed in Jammu and Kashmir are the result of the courage, dedication and unwavering commitment of the police force.
He described the Jammu and Kashmir Police as a benchmark of excellence in maintaining law and order and conducting counter-terrorism operations.
Highlighting evolving security threats, Manoj Sinha said modern battlefields have expanded beyond physical borders and are increasingly shaped by technology-driven threats such as cybercrime, narco-terrorism, digital fraud and narrative warfare.
“Today, the world’s most dangerous criminals and terrorists do not always carry weapons; instead, they exploit code, data and encrypted networks to operate across borders. These are no longer threats of the distant future but the stark realities of the present,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor stressed the importance of integrating Artificial Intelligence and digital infrastructure into policing operations to effectively tackle modern security challenges. He urged all wings of the police force to adopt advanced technologies and strengthen cyber capabilities.
He reiterated that eradication of terrorism and ensuring public safety remain top priorities of the administration.
The ceremony was attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Director General of Police Nalin Prabhat, Principal Secretary Home Chandraker Bharti, senior police and civil administration officials and family members of the newly recruited constables.(PTK)
