DC Budgam Reviews Muharram-ul-Harram Arrangements, Directs Timely Facilities

Budgam, May 09 (PTK): Deputy Commissioner Budgam, Athar Aamir Khan, along with SSP Budgam Hariprasad K K, on Friday chaired a stakeholders meeting to review and finalise arrangements for the forthcoming holy month of Muharram-ul-Harram.

The meeting was attended by representatives of Shia Anjumans, community organisations, civil administration officials and other stakeholders. Detailed discussions were held regarding key arrangements required for the smooth conduct of Muharram processions and related programmes across the district.

Representatives of various Shia organisations and community members raised demands regarding scheduled power and drinking water supply, repair and surface levelling of roads, timely distribution of ration, LPG and firewood, sanitation arrangements, restoration of street lights, healthcare facilities and transportation services.

The Deputy Commissioner directed the Power Development Department and Jal Shakti Department to ensure uninterrupted scheduled supply of electricity and water. The Forest Department was instructed to ensure availability of firewood, while the Food Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department was directed to ensure advance distribution of ration.

The Cooperatives Department was asked to establish temporary outlets for supply of rice, sugar and other essentials in different areas of the district.

Similarly, the R&B Department and Urban Local Bodies were directed to complete road repairs and drainage works in advance, while the ARTO was instructed to prepare a transportation plan for major congregation centres. Directions were also issued for repair and construction of toilets at identified locations including Budgam, Magam and Khanda.

On the occasion, SSP Budgam assured adequate security and police arrangements and sought cooperation from all stakeholders for peaceful observance of Muharram.

Community representatives appreciated the administration for convening the meeting well in advance and assured full cooperation in maintaining communal harmony and supporting the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan.

Concluding the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner assured participants that the administration remains accessible for grievance redressal, suggestions and public concerns.

The meeting was attended by representatives of All J&K Anjuman Sharie Shian Darul Mustafa Budgam, All J&K Anjuman Sharie Shian Shariatabad Yousuf Abad Budgam, All J&K Shia Association Srinagar, Central Auqaf Committee Magam, General Auqaf Committee Khanda and senior district officers from various departments.(PTK)
