Police Intensifies Anti-Drug Drive in Anantnag, Conducts NDPS Training for IOs

Anantnag, May 04 (PTK): Police in Anantnag has stepped up its anti-drug operations while simultaneously enhancing investigative capacity by organising a 5-day specialised training programme for Investigating Officers (IOs).

The initiative is part of the ongoing 100 Days Intensive Nasha Mukti Abhiyan being carried out across Jammu and Kashmir. During the campaign, police have registered a significant number of cases under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act against drug peddlers in various parts of the district. Multiple arrests have been made, and substantial quantities of contraband substances seized, underscoring the force’s firm resolve to eliminate the drug menace.

To further strengthen investigations and ensure effective prosecution, the 5-day training programme focused on key aspects such as legal procedures, scientific evidence collection, case documentation, and best practices required to secure higher conviction rates under the NDPS Act.

Senior police officers and subject experts conducted the sessions, providing in-depth knowledge along with practical insights. The programme aims to build professional capacity among IOs and ensure investigations are carried out in a transparent, legally sound, and result-oriented manner.

Police reiterated their commitment to sustained action against narcotics and emphasised that such initiatives will continue to ensure a drug-free and safer society.(PTK)
