Weeklong ‘Vande Mataram’ celebrations commence across Ramban district

RAMBAN, JANUARY 19(PTK): The District Administration Ramban under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Alyas Khan today launched the Phase-II celebration campaign to commemorate the 150th anniversary of India’s national song “Vande Mataram.”  

At the District Headquarters, the Deputy Commissioner presided over the inaugural function.

Additional Deputy Commissioner, Varunjeet Singh Charak; Chief Planning Officer, Dr. Shakeeb Ahmed Rather; Assistant Commissioner Development, Sheraz Ahmed and other district officers participated in the ceremony held at the Conference Hall, District Administrative Complex.

The event featured screening of patriotic videos and cultural programmes under the theme “Vande Mataram”.  Students, officials and people from all walks of life joined the celebrations, collectively expressing their love and respect for the national song.

The Deputy Commissioner highlighted the historical significance of “Vande Mataram,” written by Bankim Chandra Chatterjee which served as a powerful freedom mantra during India’s struggle for independence. He said the weeklong celebrations aim to rekindle patriotic spirit among citizens and inspire the younger generation to uphold the values of unity, nationalism and national integration. “The commemoration events will be held across all Sub-Divisions, Tehsils, Blocks, educational institutions and colleges in the district, featuring patriotic songs, cultural performances, debates and awareness activities aimed at promoting national integration and celebrating India’s rich heritage,” he added.

The participants joined the collective recitation of the National Anthem and the National Song, symbolising harmony and national pride.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner, who is also the District Nodal Officer for the “Vande Mataram” celebrations, briefed the participants about the weeklong schedule. Similar functions were also held at Sub-Division, Tehsil, Block and institutions levels.(PTK)
