Sopore Police Tighten Noose on Drug Trade – Second Peddler Arrested in 24 Hours

Sopore, May 24, 2025(PTK): Continuing its intensified crackdown against drug trafficking, Sopore Police arrested another drug peddler during a naka checking operation at Wagub Crossing today—marking the second arrest in the last 24 hours.

 

The accused has been identified as Farooq Ahmad Bhat, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhat, resident of Hadipora, Rafiabad. On frisking, police recovered 25 strips (200 capsules) of Spasmo Proxyvon Plus, a banned psychotropic substance, from his possession.

 

Accordingly, a case under FIR No. 72/2025 has been registered at Police Station Tarzoo under relevant sections of the law. The investigation is ongoing, with efforts underway to trace the supply chain and expose the broader network behind the drug peddling.

 

This arrest comes close on the heels of another successful operation, further reaffirming Sopore Police’s unwavering commitment to eliminating the drug menace from Sopore.
