7 Dead, 28 Injured as Bus Rolls Down Deep Gorge in Akhnoor

Jammu, May 30 – A tragic accident claimed the lives of seven passengers and left 28 others injured when a bus carrying pilgrims rolled down a deep gorge in the Chungi Marh area of Akhnoor, Jammu district, this afternoon.

Officials reported that the incident occurred near Chungi Morh on the Jammu-Poonch highway. The bus, laden with pilgrims, lost control and plunged into the gorge, resulting in the fatalities and numerous injuries.

The injured were quickly transported to the Sub-District Hospital in Akhnoor. Due to the severity of their injuries, several critically injured passengers have been referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu for advanced treatment.

Authorities are in the process of identifying the deceased and the injured. The police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
