150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel

October 30(PTK): As part of the nationwide celebrations marking the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, Police organised series of events in Ganderbal, Sopore, Handwara, Budgam and Kupwara.

In Ganderbal, Police organized a “Padyatra” from Gund Market to Fraw in the jurisdiction of Police Station Gund. The event was aimed at highlighting the remarkable role and contribution of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, popularly known as the Iron Man of India, in the unification of the nation and his tireless efforts in strengthening the spirit of unity and integrity. A large number of participants including Police personnel, officers of 118 Bn CRPF, students, and members of civil society from Gund area took part in the Padyatra with great zeal and enthusiasm. The participants carried placards and banners spreading messages of unity, national integration, and patriotism.

Ganderbal Police also organized an impressive Seminar at Vijay Memorial School Ganderbal to pay tribute to the great leader and to highlight his monumental contributions towards the unity and integrity of the nation. The event was chaired by SSP Ganderbal Shri Khalil Ahmad Poswal-JKPS, who in his address, threw light on the life and legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. He emphasized Patel’s pivotal role in integrating the princely states and strengthening the idea of a united India. Students, teachers, and police officers actively participated in the seminar, expressing their thoughts on the visionary leadership of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. The speakers lauded his dedication, courage, and commitment to national service, inspiring everyone to uphold his values of unity, discipline, and patriotism. SSP Ganderbal distributed appreciation certificates among the participants.

In addition, series of programmes were organised in the jurisdiction of Police Station Safapora. An Awareness Programme was organized at Valley Lakes Educational Institute Safapora, where more than 100-150 students, teachers, respectable citizens and other participants participated with great enthusiasm. The event focused on the teachings and contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, emphasizing his pivotal role in uniting the nation and fostering national integrity. Speakers on the occasion highlighted the relevance of Patel’s ideals in modern society and encouraged the youth to imbibe his spirit of service and dedication. PS Safapora also organized a Safai Abhiyan (Cleanliness Drive) at the famous Manasbal Park, in collaboration with employees of the Wullar & Manasbal Development Authority (WMDA) and local Shikara Walas. The joint initiative aimed to promote cleanliness, environmental awareness, and collective responsibility towards maintaining the beauty of the local tourist destinations. Both events witnessed active public participation and served as a meaningful tribute to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, whose vision of unity and discipline continues to inspire generations.

In Sopore, Police organized a series of community outreach events across the Police District. At Jehlum Model Public School Ningli, under the jurisdiction of Police Station Tarzoo, a public awareness program was held focusing on anti-corruption, drug abuse prevention, and community participation in promoting transparency and unity — reflecting the values espoused by the Iron Man of India. Simultaneously, under Police Station Panzalla, a blood donation camp was organized at SDH Rohama in collaboration with Rahat International Trust and Al Mustafa Trust Baliharan Singhpora Pattan, where volunteers and police personnel came forward to donate blood for the welfare of the community.

In Handwara, Police organised a series of programmes across the district. In the jurisdiction of Police Station Vilgam, a Padyatra was organised in Vilgam Market, where participants carried placards and banners depicting Sardar Patel’s life, values, and role in national integration. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students, youth, and police personnel, spreading the message of unity and patriotism. At Green Peace Public School, Bicherwara (PS Kralgund jurisdiction), a vibrant Cultural Programme was held where students presented patriotic songs, skits, and speeches celebrating the visionary leadership of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and his pivotal role in shaping modern India. In the jurisdiction of Police Post Chogul, an Awareness Programme on the Achievements of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s Life was held at Government High School Chogul, witnessing active participation from students, staff, and community members.

In Budgam, Police organized a Padayatra in the jurisdictions of Police Station Khag and Police Station Chrar-i-Sharief. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation of police officers, officials, and local community members who carried banners and placards promoting the values of unity, integrity, and patriotism espoused by Sardar Patel. On the occasion, speakers highlighted the relevance of Sardar Patel’s vision in today’s times and urged everyone to strengthen peace, harmony, and national integration. Participants also took a pledge to uphold the ideals of unity and brotherhood. The event concluded with a vote of thanks, reaffirming that Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s legacy will continue to inspire future generations in building a united and strong nation.

In Kupwara, Police organised a ‘Run for Unity’ at Teetwal (Karnah) and from Kalaroose to Madmadov Crossing. Students, locals, and shopkeepers participated with great enthusiasm, spreading the message of national integration, peace, and harmony. The event highlighted the nation’s commitment to unity and integrity, echoing the ideals of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.(PTK)
