Militant Associate Apprehended in Kupwara District, Arms Recovered

Srinagar, Oct 27: Security forces apprehended a militant associate in the Handwara area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Sunday, officials reported. A joint operation involving the police, Army’s 22 Rashtriya Rifles, and CRPF’s 92 battalion led to the capture of the individual, along with arms, ammunition, and other incriminating materials.
The suspect, identified as Ishfaq Majeed Dar, son of Abdul Majeed Dar from Latti Shart Sopore, was detained during a Naka checking near the Unisoo area. A pistol and live ammunition were seized from his possession.
An FIR (No. 198/24) has been registered under sections 13 and 23 of the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act and section 7/25 of the Indian Arms Act. The investigation is underway, officials added.
