SRINAGAR, Oct 4: Northern Army Commander Lieutenant General M V Suchindra Kumar on Friday urged troops in Kashmir to remain highly vigilant during his visit to the region. His visit comes in the wake of the recently concluded Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, held after a decade-long gap.
Lt Gen Kumar, accompanied by Chinar Corps Commander Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, visited the Rashtriya Rifles battalions that participated in two significant anti-militancy operations last month. These operations resulted in the elimination of five local militants.
Three militants were killed in a gunfight in Kreeri Pattan, Baramulla district on September 13-14, while two others were neutralized in an encounter in Kulgam on September 28. The Northern Command praised the meticulous planning and execution of these operations and emphasized the need for continued vigilance.
In a post on X, the Northern Command commended the efforts of the troops, stating, “ArmyCdrNC complimented the troops for their meticulous planning and execution of recent operations in Baramulla and Kulgam.”
