Security Forces Keep Close Watch on Global Conflicts in Jammu and Kashmir
PTK MONITORING DESK
SRINAGAR, Oct 3: The security forces in Jammu and Kashmir are closely monitoring global conflicts, particularly in West Asia, to ensure they do not adversely affect the region’s security, a senior Army officer said on Thursday. Lt Gen Rajiv Ghai, General Officer Commanding (GoC) of the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps, acknowledged minor protests in the valley linked to ongoing Middle East conflicts but downplayed any immediate escalation.
He assured that the situation is under control, and the Army remains vigilant. “We will continue to monitor developments to prevent any negative impact on our security,” Lt Gen Ghai stated.
As for potential security challenges following the formation of an elected government in Jammu and Kashmir after the vote count on October 8, Lt Gen Ghai expressed optimism. He emphasized that the elections have proceeded peacefully and credited the robust security plan in place for the region’s stability, also citing the smooth conduct of the Amarnath Yatra this year.
Security forces are prepared for any eventuality, but the officer remains hopeful that the democratic process will lead to positive outcomes for Jammu and Kashmir.
