Heatwave in Kashmir Raises Flash Flood Concerns Amid Forecast of Intense Showers

 

Srinagar – As the Kashmir region has been experiencing a severe heatwave over the past week, meteorologists are warning of the potential for intense showers and cloudbursts in some areas over the next four days. This combination of weather conditions could potentially trigger flash floods, posing a significant risk to residents and infrastructure.

 

When hot weather persists over an area for several days, it can cause the atmosphere to become more unstable. This instability increases the potential for heavy rainfall when a weather system, such as the monsoon winds currently affecting the region, arrives. The hot surface temperatures lead to higher rates of evaporation, injecting more moisture into the air. This added moisture can result in more intense precipitation events.
