Vacancies Hamper Schools in Kulgam

PTK NEWS DESK

Kulgam, 25 July : In South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, 16 higher secondary schools and 21 other schools are operating without principals and headmasters. This vacuum is severely affecting the quality of education.

Key positions such as Chief Education Officer (CEO), Deputy CEO, three Zonal Education Officers (ZEOs), four Zonal Education Planning Officers (ZEPOs), and 124 lecturer posts have been vacant for months. Parents confirm that their children’s schools lack proper supervision, which impacts their education negatively.

Concerned parents are urging the authorities to appoint principals and headmasters immediately to ensure their children receive quality education. They emphasize the importance of school heads in maintaining direction and quality in educational institutions.

The vacant positions of CEO, Deputy CEO, and several ZEOs and ZEPOs are also causing significant issues, making essential tasks like infrastructural development, tendering, transfers, and school monitoring impossible.

An anonymous education department official highlighted the difficulties caused by these vacancies. Parents are calling for immediate action to fill these positions.

District Development Council (DDC) Chairman Mohammad Afzal Parray stated, “I have submitted a memorandum to LG Manoj Sinha and the former Chief Secretary regarding these issues, but unfortunately, no action has been taken. I once again urge the LG Administration to address this matter urgently.”
