PTK MONITORING DESK

Jammu, July 25: The J&K Police on Thursday claimed a breakthrough in the Kathua terror attack by arresting two Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM) associates who facilitated the assault.

Sources told news agency Press Trust of Kashmir, that the two associates were apprehended in the hilly area of Kathua district. “Sustained questioning of these terror associates is likely to lead to more arrests of individuals involved in providing strategic and logistic support to the terrorists,” sources indicated.

This arrest follows the tragic incident on July 10, when terrorists ambushed an army vehicle in Badnota village, approximately 150 kilometers from Kathua town. The attack resulted in the death of five security personnel, including four soldiers and a local policeman.

Reports have surfaced about the presence of 40 hardcore foreign terrorists in the hilly districts of the Jammu division, such as Rajouri, Poonch, Doda, Kathua, Reasi, and Udhampur. In response, the Army has deployed over 4,000 soldiers, including elite para commandos and mountain warfare experts, to eliminate terrorism from the region.

More details regarding the investigation and further arrests are awaited.
