Charges under UAPA against Young Shia Mourners should be reversed: MIRWAIZ

Srinagar, July 18 : Mirwaiz North Kashmir, who is also Chairman Muslim Mutahida Mahaaz J&K, Moulana Parray Hassan Afzal Firdousi, has condemned police action on youth for raising pro-Palestine slogans during one of the Muharram processions earlier this week in Srinagar.

In his Statement Mirwaiz Hassan Firdousi said, “It is not a crime to support Palestine. It is in our spirit. We always supported oppressed Palestinians and will do the same till our last breath.It is our religious, humanitarian and constitutional right .”

Mirwaiz Hassan Firdousi quoted figures of the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, which states that more than 38,800 people, including 15000 children and more than 10000 women, have been killed and more than 80,000 injured in Gaza (Palestine) since the war began on 07 Oct 2023. During the same period, some 10,000 have gone missing.

Mirwaiz Hassan Firdousi said, “India has for long supported and voted in the UN for a two-state solution that allows Palestinians to live freely in an independent nation within secure borders, while also addressing Israel’s legitimate security concerns. Hence the said unauthentic Decision ( UAPA) should be reversed immediately without any more delay.”
