Inmate Injured in Kupwara Jail Blast Succumbs to Injuries

Srinagar, June 24 : An inmate from Sopore, injured in a gas cylinder blast at Kupwara sub-jail, has succumbed to his injuries.

A top official told  that on June 19, at least nine inmates were injured in the explosion at Kupwara jail. The injured were immediately taken to the hospital, where one of them succumbed to his injuries on Monday morning.

The deceased has been identified as Shahnawaz Ahmad Shah, son of Sujah Ahmad, a resident of Dangerpora Sopore. According to police, he was involved in case FIR NO. 04/2024 PS Tarzoo under sections 8/21, 22, 29 of the NDPS Act.

The explosion was attributed to a cooking gas cylinder, and further investigation is ongoing.
