Srinagar, Jun 13 – The School Education Department (SED) has announced that morning assemblies in all educational institutions will begin with the National Anthem, following standard protocol.
Principal Secretary to the government for the School Education Department, Alok Kumar, outlined this directive in a circular addressing the guidelines for conducting morning assemblies in schools.
“To kickstart a school day on a positive note and to instill a sense of unity and discipline amongst students, the morning assemblies at the start of the school day have proved to be an invaluable ritual of the schooling system,” the circular stated.
Kumar further highlighted that morning assemblies serve as platforms to nurture values of moral integrity, shared community, and mental tranquility. However, he noted that this significant ritual and tradition is not being uniformly observed across various schools in the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.
The Principal Secretary stressed the importance of uniformity, urging all stakeholders to adhere to the guidelines for morning assemblies. “Morning Assembly shall be of 20 minutes duration and all students and teachers shall assemble at the designated area at the commencement of the school schedule,” the guidelines specify. “Morning Assembly shall begin with the National Anthem as per standard protocol,” it further states.
This directive aims to ensure consistent practice of morning assemblies, fostering a sense of unity and discipline among students across the region.
