NHW 44 Blocked: Heavy Rains Trigger Shooting Stones and Mudslides
Traffic Control Units Issue Advisory Amid Highway Closure
JAMMU PTK : Intense rainfall in the Ramban/Banihal/Udhampur region has resulted in the blockage of NHW 44, with reports indicating shooting stones and mudslides at multiple points, including Cafeteria, Mehar, and Dhalwas. The adverse conditions have brought traffic to a standstill on both sides of the highway.
According to updates received by the Press Trust of Kashmir, the Traffic Control Units (TCUs) in Jammu, Srinagar, and Udhampur have issued a stern directive, halting all types of vehicles from proceeding towards Ramban and vice versa. This precautionary measure aims to ensure the safety of commuters in the face of hazardous road conditions.
Additionally, sector officers along NHW 44 have been instructed to halt vehicles at safe locations along the route to mitigate the risk of any untoward incidents.
As the situation unfolds, authorities urge travelers to exercise caution and cooperate with the directives issued by the TCUs. Efforts are underway to clear the debris and restore normalcy to the affected areas. Until then, commuters are advised to seek alternate routes and stay informed about the evolving situation.
