Army Foils Attempted Drone Intrusion Across LoC in Poonch
In a proactive move to safeguard the Line of Control (LoC), Army personnel in Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir, engaged in firing upon Pakistani quadcopters in separate incidents on Friday.
Official told News Agency Press Trust of Kashmir that, the incident unfolded as Army troops detected two Pakistani quadcopters breaching Indian airspace in the Balnoi-Mendhar and Gulpur sectors. Prompt action was taken as the troops opened fire to deter the aerial intruders, forcing them to retreat back across the border.
Following the encounters, thorough search operations were conducted in both sectors to ensure no weaponry or narcotics were dropped onto Indian territory by the quadcopters.
This latest engagement comes after a similar incident on February 12, when Army troops intercepted and fired upon an enemy drone in the Mendhar sector’s Mankote area.
The persistent use of drones by Pakistan to smuggle narcotics and weapons into Jammu and Kashmir has raised significant concerns.
