Director Horticulture Kashmir visits Bandipora; takes tour of various HD orchards
PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR BANDIPORA, NOVEMBER 26: The Director Horticulture Kashmir, G.R. Mir today visited Bandipora and took a tour of various High-density (HD) orchards raised with the assistance of the Horticulture Department.
At the outset, the Director visited Apple High-Density orchards at Shilwat and Wangipora Sumbal and appreciated the hard work of the orchardists. He assured them of providing further assistance as admissible under different departmental schemes.
He gave on spot instruction to the field functionaries to provide technical knowhow to the orchardists regarding different high-density orchard management practices.
Later, the Director inspected Fruit Plant Nursery Asham, Sumbal where he took stock of various developmental activities being carried out. He instructed the staff to speed up the pruning, hoeing and other nursery operations in the nursery and focus on orchard sanitation and production of quality planting material.

He also instructed the staff to develop the nursery on modern lines so that the quality planting material is produced with the special focus on production of High-Density planting material of various fruit crops.
Mir emphasized on the need of getting all the public as well as private nurseries accredited with National Horticulture Board (NHB).
During the visit, the Director was accompanied by Chief Horticulture Officer Bandipora, Horticulture Development Officer, Sumbal and other field functionaries.
