Bandipora achieves major milestone in Power Sector
Reduces more than 50% AT&C losses; Billing efficiency increased to 72%
PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR BANDIPORA, NOVEMBER 12: The Bandipora district has achieved a major milestone in energy conservation as it has been able to reduce the aggregate technical and commercial loss (AT&C) losses by about 50 percent by upgrading the transmission system in the district.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad said that a large quantity of electricity gets wasted during transmission due to faulty and poor transmission systems which was a major worry amid energy crisis across the globe.
He said Bandipora has become the top performing district in the Kashmir division for reducing the AT&C losses as Average AT&C Losses for Bandipora decreased to 28.30% which was 53.71% during 2021.

He said that this milestone was achieved due to constant efforts of all concerned to upgrade the transmission lines and plug the loopholes that increase AT&C losses.
Dr Owais appreciated the people for lending their support in this regard and bearing with them during this massive upgradation process. He said with the improvement in transmission, the billing efficiency has also increased to about 72 percent, which led to the top rank in Kashmir division.
The DC said that operation of augmented facilities helped to reduce AT&C losses in the district. He appreciated the efforts of field functionaries of KPDCL for adopting the reforms on ground besides working in adverse weather conditions to augment the power infrastructure.
He said that the UT Government has initiated a large-scale capacity augmentation programme to address the power deficit and stated that the administration is committed to further reduce the AT&C losses in the district and appealed to people to continue supporting the efforts of the administration.
Dr. Owais further said that the power amnesty scheme is strictly implemented in the district for the benefit of consumers.
He informed that 22 DG sets with capacity of 3670KVA are currently providing electricity in Gurez Sub Division while enough HSD has already been dumped for DG sets in Gurez to meet the needs in winter season.
