A 17-years old karate girl from Anantnag

Press Trust of Kashmir | Srinagar, Oct,29: A 17-year-old girl from south Kashmir’s Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir has a far won five Gold medals at State level and 16 at district level.

 

Sheikh Sana, a resident of Donipawa village of Anantnag district, who is reading in Girls model higher secondary school Ranibagh Anantnag.

 

Talking with the our correspondent Danish Ahmad Dar, Sana said that she was happy to win five gold medal at the State level in martial arts , Thang Ta.wushu and sqay martial arts and she will work hard as her dream is to reach to the international level.

 

She said that she was interested in martial arts since her childhood but in the absence of any infrastructure and coach in the district she faced various challenges.

 

“I had to merge with martial arts in the absence of any support from the government. I have won five gold medals in state Thang Ta .wushu championship,sqay martial arts and State boxing championship, besides I have also participated in belt wrestling championship,” she added.

 

She also thanked her parents for helping her win the five gold at State level and 16 medals at district in boxing,Thang Ta.wushu,sqay martial arts.

 

Sana also said that after the winning gold in the state championship,she got a chance in the nationals but could not participate due to some issues.

 

She said that lack of infrastructure is becoming an obstacle for dozens of youth especially girls who are interested in martial arts but are forced to choose some other field.

 

“My dream is to reach to the international stage and perform well in mega events but I want support from the government so that I can prove my mettle at mega stages,” she said.

 

“With the increasing incidence of rape and molestation around the world,There is a need for every girl to learn how a defend herself from any awkward situation”,she added.

 

Talking about the indifferent attitude of the society towards the girls who plays aggressive games.she said in my playing days,there was hardly any support from the society but now the situation has improved a lot.

 

We need to take part in sports to keep ourselves fit and healthy and to stay away from drugs. She said:-PTK.
