DC Reasi briefs Political representatives about SSR- 2022 schedule, activities

PRESS TRUST OF KASHMIR REASI, SEPTEMBER 15: As per the schedule announced by the Election Commission of India for Special Summary Revision of the draft Electoral rolls in Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, a programme was today organized in the DC office Reasi with the representatives of Political Parties.

 As per guidelines of the Election Commission of India, copies of the draft Electoral rolls in respect of District Reasi were handed over by Babila Rakwal, District Election Officer to the heads of the recognised Political parties of District Reasi, in presence of other officers.

The participants were informed that the Special Summary revision of the draft Electoral rolls in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is being conducted from September 15,  2022 to October 25, 2022, to invite claims and objections from the people.

The claims and objections will be examined and disposed of from October 26, 2022 to November 10, 2022 and  after disposal of the claims and objections, final Electoral rolls will be published on November 25, 2022.

Detailed information was given about the procedure to be followed by the eligible persons to apply before the designated officers like BLOs and EROs by filling Form 6, Form 6-B, Form 7 and Form 8 for claims/objections  or by logging into www.nvsp.in portal or by downloading Voter Helpline App.

 It was informed in the meeting that  besides the Electoral Registration Officers (EROs) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officers, the Booth Level Officers (BLOs) and Supervisors  have been appointed for each Polling station to help and facilitate the people for registration as voter, filing claims, objections etc.

  It was also informed that on the pattern of Polling/Counting Agents, in order to enhance the participation by the Political parties in roll revision, the Election Commission of India  has devised the concept of Booth Level Agent to be appointed by a Political party for a Polling station and    accordingly, this time the Booth Level Agents appointed by the Political parties will also remain associated with the BLOs and will work during the course of Special Summary revision of the draft Electoral rolls.

The Political parties and the general public were appealed to take part in the exercise of Special Summary revision of the draft Electoral rolls.

Further, the District Election Officer, Reasi, Babila Rakwal also visited two Polling stations located in Government Higher Secondary School for Boys, Reasi and Government Higher Secondary School for Girls, Reasi, to take first hand view of the process of  Special Summary revision  and also interacted with the  Supervisors, BLOs and some would be voters.
